Atomic International manufactures ShieldRay therapy room doors in either sliding or swing configuration. The choice between sliding or swing is usually decided by space availability and aesthetics inasmuch as each door costs about the same.
The Maze type entrance derives its' usefulness from the fact that radiation for the most part tends to travel in straight lines from the source. Interpose one ninety-degree turn in the path of radiation and the radiation levels will be reduced significantly. The requirements for a shield door, likewise, are reduced to the point where as little as 1/8" up to 1" lead core in a door will provide adequate photon shielding.

Alternative to the maze entrance is the Direct Entrance which features a door opening directly into the therapy room. Without the shielding effect of the maze, the direct entry door must provide correspondingly greater shielding
All doors feature electro-mechanical operations, "fail safe" technology and manual opening capability in the event of a power failure. Swing doors are usually limited to about 20,000 lbs. whereas sliding doors weighing up to 250,000 lbs. have been produced by Atomic. All doors carry a lifetime guarantee with a one-year guarantee on components and motor operators. All Atomic International doors are built to the guidelines of the National Council on Radiation Protection Pre-fabricated and tested prior to delivery.
