Ledite block is installed between the beam webs at the ends of ceiling beams to provide shielding where the beams rest on the bearing plates.
Ceiling beams are welded to the bearing plate at each seam to prevent movement of the beams during the placement of the Ledite block on the beams.
Most beam spans require eight inches or more bearing surface.

Structural Beams

The size of beams that support the ceiling shielding protection are designed based on the weight of shielding, and the other transmitted load and length of beam span. Generally W8-W10, or W12 beams are selected. Low energy rooms that require shorter spans and require less protection often use the W8-W10 beams. High energy rooms usually require W10 or W12 beams.
